New Banksy boarded up just hours after artist confirms stargazing work
A new Banksy mural has already been boarded up by workmen just hours after the elusive graffiti artist confirmed he was behind the artwork.
Banksy claimed responsibility for the stunning new street art in central London, but is still keeping his followers guessing about an identical stencil two and a half miles away.
The anonymous graffiti artist posted a picture of his sketch on Instagram, which depicts a pair of children lying on the ground in winter gear and pointing up at the sky.
The figures popped up on the side of an abandoned building in Queen’s Mews, Bayswater in west London.
However, an identical spray-paint of the same work, with exactly the same kids in the same pose, also popped up near the Centre Point building on the intersection of Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street.
Banky’s Instagram account is yet to claim that piece as his own too, as has become customary.
It’s believed the Tottenham Court Road version appeared first, to excite the Christmas shoppers milling around near the popular Outernet attraction.
Pictures of the version in west London, a short walk north of Kensington Gardens, then emerged overnight.
Both appear to share Banksy’s signature monochrome style, but fans will be left speculating over whether there’s a deeper meaning to the image or if it’s just a simple festive treat.
Those wanting to get a look at the new graffiti in Bayswater might have missed their moment.
Picture taken at Queen’s Mew show it being boarded up by workers in high vis jackets.

The most recent work on his Instagram is the image of a judge attacking a placard-carrying protester which appeared on the side of the Royal Courts of Justice in September.
The art was interpreted by some as a comment on the arrest of hundreds of people for supporting Palestine Action by holding up placards at protests.
It would be an unusual move for Banksy to spray the same work on walls barely two-and-a-half miles apart in the capital.
