If you’re looking for a way to make the holiday season feel a little more special, receiving a Christmas card from the Royal Family might just do the trick.

And it turns out getting a card from the King and Queen or the Prince and Princess of Wales, is actually a lot easier than you might think.

You don’t have to be a Duke or a Duchess to make it onto their mailing list this year – all you have to do is send them a Christmas card.

As long as you include your return address, royal staff will send you a Christmas card back in response, containing a pre-printed thank you message and a photo.

So if all you want for Christmas is a card from Catherine, you just need to pop her one in the post first, as fan account @kate.princessofwales explained in a viral post on Instagram.

The best address to mail it to is: TRH The Prince & Princess of Wales, Kensington Palace, London, United Kingdom, W8 4PX

There’s no protocol you have to follow when writing in the card – simply wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year just as you would anyone else, or share a more meaningful message if you desire.

You could also wish the Princess of Wales a happy early birthday, as she’ll be turning 44 shortly after Christmas, on January 9.

Those in the UK will want to make sure they get cards in on time as well, to ensure they arrive promptly before Christmas. The last posting date for 2nd Class mail this year is December 17, and for 1st Class it’s December 20.

If you live outside of the UK, you can still send a card to the royals – you’ll just want to make sure you have used the right postage, or else it might not arrive at the intended destination.

Whatever you do, though, don’t forget to write your return address on the back of the envelope, or you won’t be getting a reply.

And don’t despair if you aren’t sent a reply right away, as the royal family receives a lot of mail at this time of year, so it can take several months for staff to respond to everyone.

Kate and William aren’t the only royals you can send a Christmas card to. You can also contact the King and Queen, Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

Here are a few other addresses you could mail to, if you feel like it:

The King and Queen, Buckingham Palace, London, United Kingdom, SW1A 1AA

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Bagshot Park, Bagshot, Surrey GU19 5PL

The Princess Royal, Buckingham Palace, London SW1A 1AA

And if there are any other royals you fancy writing to, all of the contact information can be found on the official website for The Royal Family.

There you’ll also find details on how to send more formal mail and the best way to start and end a letter to a royal.
