Monday misery across London’s Tube and Overground network after lines suspended

The Circle tube line was suspended completely for hours on Monday morning when a person died on the tracks at Gloucester Road.
Transport for London (TfL) had the line has now reopened and is operating as normal, though there are still ‘severe’ delays on the District Line, which serves much of the same route.
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service told Metro: ‘We were called today at 9.29am to reports of a person under a train at Gloucester Road underground station.
‘We sent resources including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and members of our hazardous area response team (HART).
‘We also dispatched London’s air ambulance by road.
‘Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.’

An earlier status update from TfL this morning had said: ‘Circle Line: No service while emergency services deal with a causality on the track. London Buses and Mildmay line are accepting valid tickets via any reasonable route.’
The Circle Line is one of the most widely used on the network, serving crucial transport hubs including Victoria, Westminster, Liverpool Street, King’s Cross, and Paddington.

Travellers also faced major issues on two other lines.
The Piccadilly Line was still part suspended at 2pm, with no service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge ‘to prevent damage to train wheels caused by expected significant leaf fall’.
