Child and three adults pinned under car that crashed into Liverpool fans
Dozens of people have been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a crowd of Liverpool fans during a Premier League trophy parade this evening.
The driver, a 53-year-old white British man, was arrested at the scene after the vehicle drove into people lining Water Street to celebrate the club’s title win.
No fatalities have been reported, however, two people, including a child, were seriously injured.
David Kitchin of the North West Ambulance Service said 27 people were taken to the hospital, 20 people were treated at the scene and four children were among the injured.
In a press conference tonight, Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said people of all ages were treated at the scene after the collision at around 6pm.
She said the ‘isolated’ incident was not being treated as terrorism.
The city’s chief fire officer, Nick Searle, said four people, including a child, had to be lifted from beneath the car by firefighters.
