A man died in Liverpool city centre – but police have no idea who he is.

The man, thought to be in his 20s, was found outside the HM Passport Office on Old Hall Street suffering from a medical episode on May 10.

He was taken to the hospital after ambulance crews arrived around 4.35am, but was later pronounced dead.

Despite repeated police appeals over the last nine days, officers have been unable to identify the man.

The man is white, 6ft tall, of large build, with brown hair and a brown beard.

He wore a t-shirt with a diamond pattern by the outdoor clothing brand The North Face, grey jogging pants, a black jacket and dark Nike trainers.

Investigators had hoped that a man spotted with the deceased man before his death might have known who he was.

But the force said the man was unable to help with their enquiries

Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

He added: ‘However, we are continuing with our enquiries to identify him so we can inform his next-of-kin of his death.

‘If anyone thinks they know a man matching his description, please contact us as a matter of urgency.’
