Putin issues warning after US considers sending Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine

Vladimir Putin has insisted Russia will ‘prevail’ in Ukraine after the White House announced they may send the country Tomahawk missiles with a range long enough to hit Moscow.
US Vice President JD Vance has revealed Donald Trump is looking into offering Kyiv the weaponry as Russia continues to gain ground along the frontline.
This includes capturing settlements Shandryholove and Zarichne which sit northeast of key strategic city Sloviansk – but not without significant troop losses.
And in a new video message on the Kremlin’s website, Putin said: ‘Our fighters and commanders go on the attack, and the entire country, all of Russia, is waging this righteous battle and working hard.
‘We are fighting and we are prevailing.’
But US special envoy Keith Kellogg confirmed Vance’s comments are a possibility.

What is a Tomahawk Missile?
The Tomahawk Land Attack Missile is a long-range weapon launched from sea to attack targets in deep-strike missions.
It can strike targets from 1,000 miles (1,600 km) away, even in heavily defended airspace – bringing Moscow into Ukraine’s reach.
The missile measures 20 feet (6.1 meters) long with an 8.5-foot wingspan and weighs about 3,330 pounds (1,510 kg).
Ukraine already has a number of domestically made and Western long-range weapons, including the Flamingo, Neptune and Harpoon.
The Tomahawk matches the Flamingo in distance, and will add to the country’s ability to defend itself as the Kremlin ramps up attacks.
He told Fox News: ‘Reading what [Trump] has said, and reading what Vice President Vance has said… the answer is yes. Use the ability to hit deep. There are no such things as sanctuaries.’
Trump said last week Ukraine has the chance to reclaim all of its lost territory, and has added it was ‘impossible to win a war’ without the capabilities to strike a country back.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the possibility of the US sending Ukraine Tomahawk missiles are ‘very serious’.
Ukraine has requested the missiles from the US before, but they were dismissed for being ‘totally unfeasible’.

But President Volodymyr Zelensky made the request again last week while meeting with Trump at the UN General Assembly in New York.
Last week hundreds of Russian drone and missile strikes hit Kyiv and surrounding regions killing at least four people.
Drones hit several regions overnight, including Zaporizhzhia, injuring at least 16 people, including three children.
A 12-year-old girl is believed to be among those killed in Kyiv, Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said on Telegram.
Poland closed airspace near two of its southeastern cities, Lublin and Rzeszow, as its air force scrambled jets in response to the attack.
Independent monitors have said it is one of the biggest strikes on the capital since Putin’s Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
